A rare buddleja native to the Himalayas from Afganistan to China, but don't let this put you off. It is really tough. Buddleja crispa is a deciduous shrub growing to 3 metres tall that can be shaped as a small specimen tree. The new leaves emerge very white and downey. The mature grey leaves are followed by long spikes of light pink fragrant flowers in spring. This is a great specimen shrub for a large garden. I like to keep it pruned to encourage the new silver growth that is the real feature of this tree.
