Russell Lupins thrive in a rich, well drained soil. They are ideal in full sun or partly shaded position. Feed at the time of planting with a well aged manure or compost.

Lupins required moderate watering especially over dry periods in summer. Often they will wilt and sulk, but rest assured they spring back up again the next year.

Ensure when you are planting to leave the crown exposed above the soil line, a couple of centimetres is all that is required.

Once a lupin clump is established, it can be divided over the winter months, and shared amongst friends of spread through the garden. You can also collect seed from your Lupin, generating more plants from seedlings. Seedlings often take 12mths to reach flowering size.
