A fabulous structural and architectural plant from Southern Africa with beautiful blue-green textured foliage. In spring, deep red flowers rise up from the top of the stems. The Flowers drip nectar that is loved by honey eaters. I have a family of Double Bar Finches that nest in the Worthy of a place in any large garden. Drought and frost tolerant.

The blue/grey serrated foliage is unusual for this tall perennial, which doesn't smell great when cutting back, but this is more than made up for in the reliable growth during autumn, winter and spring. It gets a little ragged after the red flowers in early summer when it benefits from a chop back hard and the reward is fresh new growth at a time when other perennials are sleeping. Birds are attracted to the nectar of the red flowers. I wouldn't be without it.
