The name of this one looks like a bit of a mouthful, but it is pronounced kwa-wee-len-sis. It is named after the state Coahuila in which it is found in north-east Mexico. It is a tough suckering shrub growing up to 80cm tall. This particular variety is probably a hybrid as the true species has flowers with much more pink in them. This one is sometimes sold as Salvia greggii 'Purple'. Needs a well drained soil and full sun to display its best.
